I first became involved in the Harvey Milk LGBT Democratic Club. But began to realize that many of the people in my community whom I admired, were active in Alice. I was drafted by Robert Barnes and Martha Knutzen & Fran Kipnis to come to Alice and get involved. Where I received the best of community political educations and made political allies who became lifelong friends.
Esther Lee and I were the last Alice Co-chairs to serve two years together. After our term, the board developed the concept of staggering/ over-lapping co-chair terms, which I think is a brilliant way to nurture and support new leadership, while also providing continuity for the club.
The most practical kind of politics is the politics of decency. — Theodore Roosevelt
RT @NancyPelosi So let’s get this straight… the GOP wants the #GOPTaxScam to kick millions off health insurance (by repealing key part of #ACA) AND repeal the tax deduction for medical expenses? Have they no heart?
RT @clairecmc As an experienced sex crimes prosecutor I recognize the shifts in Roy Moore’s “denials”. They completely undermine his credibility. I agree with many of my R colleagues. He doesn’t belong in the Senate. Period.
RT @SenGillibrand I cannot say this clearly enough: If you're not rich—if you’re part of a hard working, middle class family—then there’s a good chance you'll take a hit if the Republican tax plan passes.
RT @KamalaHarris Doug Jones fearlessly took on the KKK and has fought for working families his entire career. We need him in the Senate. Help us reach $100K raised for Doug's campaign in Alabama. Donate here:
